Research & Development
Its role

The R&D Department is the engine of innovation. Its role is
to create and improve the Helioscopie implants, particularly where
efficacy and safety are concerned.
An essential provision

Due to constant advances in Research and Development, Hélioscopie
products are undergoing considerable development.
- Creation of a new generation of higher performance gastric bands (Heliogast® HAGA
and HAGE)
- Development of the intragastric balloon (Heliosphere®), a real alternative
to surgical treatment of obesity
- Development of our range of implantable sites (Heliosite®), implants
facilitating parenteral treatment.
Scientific research
Support for R&D

Scientific Research works in close collaboration with R&D. The
Scientific Department supports R&D carrying out missions of scientific
and technological vigils on the products.
The Scientific Department performs validation tests in parallel
on new products.
Setting up Clinical Trials

The Scientific Department is also responsible, in close collaboration
with the Medical Department, for organising and monitoring clinical
research associated with Hélioscopie products.
The aim of these trials are :
- Gathering together the existing scientific data on the band, the
balloon and the implantable sites through multi-centre, retrospective
European studies:
. ERMS for the Heliogast® band
- Setting up prospective evaluation studies of the products:
. Currently two prospective studies are in progress, on the Heliosphere® intragastric
balloon and on the Heliogast® gastric band.
. Two observations are to come, they will concern the gastric band and the
intragastric balloon.
